Up-cycling the Solar Water System
So today was the big day. We had to take the solar hot water system off the old classroom roof, wash it, transport it to the visitor room and position it onto the new stand.
The solar water system provides lovely warm hand washing water for the visitors to wash off any mud, charcoal or blackberry juice, they may have encountered during the on-farm activities. In all honesty, I didn’t think it was going to happen.
The 25 solar tubes are so delicate and the framework is not designed to be moved. Pleased to say we did it, it took six of us, but was surprisingly straight forward. Afterwards, Ian our wonderful plumber, found me measuring up a cow feed trough wondering if it would be suitable for my new hand washing facility. Apparently not, Ian pointed out it has large holes in the bottom for rainwater to drain off the cattle feed.
Having helped me with the plumbing for the first classroom, Ian has stopped being surprised with my mad ideas. Back to the drawing board with my farm yard themed hand washing plan…..
