Our new kitchen and more progress.

It has been a cold and busy morning. The new visitor room is up but there is still lots of work to do. Tess and Heather are varnishing every single bit of exposed wood, which is a lot. I am so glad they agreed to take on the work. Ian is busy putting in the DDA compliant toilet and Mike has been wiring in the outside lights. Richard and Rob have been putting in a 150 m length of mains electric cable. I am very, very excited about having mains electric on the farm for the first time in fifteen years. The noisy and smelly generator will be nothing more than a distant memory. Dad and Veronica have made a start on the new kitchen area, the only difficulty is that each time they sit on the floor to screw something in, Fly Dog rolls on them for a tummy tickle.

I am trying to use as much recycled material for the kitchen as I can. My lovely friend Phil has donated an old kitchen sink which I am very grateful for.  Whilst all this was taking place, I generally got in everyone’s way with my tape measure. I am still trying to work out how to use animal feed troughs for the hand washing sinks! I am aiming for the visitor room to have a farm yard theme….
